Writing and Publishing Principles

ETHICS COMMITTEE PERMIT

Under the 8th article of the 2020 Turkish Directory Journal Evaluation Criteria, all studies carried out on people and animals through either qualitative or quantitative methods (questionnaire, interview, focus group study, observation, experiment, interview techniques) are asked to state their documents of ethics committee approval if the study to be published requires ethic committee permission.

In this respect,

  • Ethics committee approval must be documented and uploaded to the journal system.
  • The name of the committee, as well as the date and the issue number of permission, should be specified in the first page and method section of the article.
  • In the case reports (interviews, etc.), consent forms are required to be included in the article.
  • It should be acknowledged that the necessary permissions are obtained from the authors of scales, questionnaires, and documents if they are used in the study or during the study process.
  • The articles should include the statement that it complies with research and publication ethics.

Note: Retrospective ethics committee permit is not required for articles that include data utilized before 2020 or for the ones that are adapted from postgraduate/doctoral studies or are applied to the journal in the previous year, accepted but not yet published. Studies that are in this scope should state the situation.

Note: Researchers who are not affiliated with any university can obtain this document from the nearest university ethics committee.

 

PUBLICATION PRINCIPLES

1- Journal of Çukurova Research; ıt is a periodical published three time a year in March (Spring), june (Summer) and December (Winter). All academic studies written in Turkish or English can be submitted for publication in the journal.

2- In the journal of Çukurova Research, which started its publication life in 2015; studies related to social sciences in various fields such as language, literature, history, sociology, philosophy, geography, archeology, anthropology, theater and drama, art and education are included.

3- Çukurova Researches is a refereed journal. Manuscripts sent to the journal for publication are reviewed by the Editorial Board in terms of editorial principles and are sent to two referees who are experts in the field for academic evaluation. Both authors' and referees' names are kept hidden during the evaluation process. Final reports are kept for three years. If one of the referee reports is positive and the other is negative, the article is sent to a third referee or Editorial Board can review the referee reports and make the final decision. The authors are free to consider the criticism and suggestions of the referee and editorial board, and if there are any issues they disagree with, they have the right to state their objection with a detailed explanation. 

4- The copyright of the articles accepted to be published in Çukurova Studies is deemed to have been transferred to the journal itself. Responsibility of the opinions in the published articles and writing preferences belong to their authors. Citations and photographs can be quoted by citing the source.

5-  The articles submitted to the journal must not have been published elsewhere. Papers presented in a scientific meeting, articles from the thesis can be accepted, yet it is to be stated that the article has previously been presented.

6- The only accepted language in the Çukurova Researches is Modern Turkish. However, provided that it complies with the publishing principles, articles written in other languages ​​may also be included as long as the total number of articles in other languages does not exceed one-third of each issue. Besides, translation articles and promotions can be published in the journal.

7- Following the completion of the necessary procedures, the articles first should  be sent to the journal via the "Log In" section of the online journal at www.cukar.org. Here, the authors can see the status of their articles, referee reports, and the date articles will be published. Manuscripts sent to their authors for correction in line with the referee reports should be re-sent to the journal within one month at the latest. Corrected text can be reexamined by the referees who request the changes, if necessary.

8- ÇUKAR (Çukurova Research) does not receive any financial aid or support from any institution or organization. For the articles sent to our journal, a fee (300 TL / 20 $) is kindly requested prior to article submission processes begin. 

WRITING RULES

Article title

The article should include a title in Turkish and English. Turkish title and summary should be written first, and then the English title should be written. All titles should be written in bold, capital letters and centered, and the font size should be 14 points. The interval value of both titles is the first 24 points and then 0 points.

Author Name and Address

The name of the author should be included under the title of the study. The full name of the author should be bold, and the first letter should be capitalized; also the surname should be written in capital letters. The name of the author should be written in the middle, and the font size should be 12 points.  Spacing for the author's name is 12 p before and 12 p after. Also a footnote for the author is required, which includes the author's institution, , the e-mail address, and ORCID. This information will be added to the manuscript after the referee process.

Abstract

At the beginning of the article, there should be a summary in Turkish and English consisting of 200-300 words, expressing the subject in a short and concise way. Abstracts should be italic and justified. Titles(Abstract in English/ Öz in Turkish) should be written in bold and centered, with only the first letter capitalized. The text size of both summary texts and titles is 10p, the spacing value is 6 p before and then 0 p.

Keywords

The article should use 3-5 word keywords. The keywords title should be written in bold type with 10 font size, and the first letters capitalized. The following keywords should be in italic, and only the first letters of the first words and the particular words should be capitalized.

Login

The title of the introduction should be after the English summary and keywords (Keywords), it should be left-justified and bold with 11 points, and all should be written in large size.

Main Text

Manuscripts should be written with "Cambria" font, single line spacing, 11 font size, and justified. Although the lines are single-spaced, the spacing value must first be set as 6, then 0. Besides, if the article requires a unique font, the font used should be sent provided to the journal editorial board.

Headlines

The titles, "Introduction, Findings, Conclusion, Bibliography and Appendixes" should be written in bold capital letters, and they should be left-justified. The font size of the titles should be 11 points.

Headers should also be left-justified in the lower header spiral. First level titles should be written in bold, first letters of the words should be written in 11 font size. Only the first word of the second level titles should start with capital letters, and the title should be written in 11 points. Roman numerals should be used at the beginning of the third level titles, the numbers should start with a 0.5 cm indent, and titles should be written with only 11 points.

Principles to be followed in the use of documents, tables, figures, and graphics

Figures, photographs, graphics, and drawings should be given a sequence number, and this place should be specified as the place in the text, and the title should be written on it, and the source should be written in the subtitle. Tables, figures, graphics etc. "Table 1. Graphic 1. Figure 1." the part should be written in bold, and the explanations after it should be in italics, only the first letters of the words should be capitalized, there should be no full stop at the end, and they should not be justified.

Appendixes

Appendixes (documents) and a piece of short information about the content of the document should be provided at the end of the article.  The sources should be in accordance with the scientific citation criteria.

Only the section containing the title and abstracts of the article in Turkish and English (including the footnote where the author's imprint information is provided) should be indented 0.5 more than the left and right.

No paragraph indents should be used in the text.

 

Resource Display

The accuracy of the resources is the responsibility of the authors. Notes and references should be separated. Notes should be numbered in the text and placed under the page in the order of numbers. Besides, 1.25 cm before-indent should be entered in the bibliography, and the font size should be set as 10 points, and 6 p before and then 0 after spacing should be placed between the sources.

APA-VI version should be used in the articles to be sent to our journal. For this reason, the articles to be sent must be in accordance with the following citation system.

Author's Surname, Initials of Author's Name. (Date of publication of the article). The name of the article is in italics, only the first letter of the first word is capitalized, and the rest is lowercase if not a proper name. Access date: Day Month Year, link of the article.

Articles that do not comply with these principles will not be evaluated.

 

Moreover;

1) Articles should not exceed 25 pages, including notes, tables, figures, graphics, and references.

2) The writing language of the journal is both Turkish and English.

3) Articles without abstracts, Turkish abstract, keywords, and keywords will not be accepted.

4) There is an obligation to comply with grammar rules (spelling, punctuation, clarity, comprehensibility, etc.) in the works sent to the journal. Therefore, the author is fully responsible for the problems and criticisms that may occur.

5) All the copyrights of the articles sent to the journal belong to the journal, and they cannot be published, reproduced, or used without reference, without obtaining permission from ÇUKAR. Also, any legal responsibility that may arise from the articles belongs to the author (s).

6- The places to be highlighted in the text should not be written in bold; instead, italic writing or quotation marks should be used.

7- TDK (Turkish Language Association) spelling guide should be taken as a basis in abbreviations to be used in the article.

8- A scientific study of the authors is published in our journal during the year (volume). Authors whose work has been published can submit a new study to our journal in the next calendar year.
